What does MFCS mean in UNCLASSIFIED

The Manual Flight Control System (MFCS) is a system used by aircraft to control the flight, stabilise and navigate the aircraft.

The MFCS consists of input devices such as joysticks, knobs and toggle switches; processors such as embedded systems with microcontrollers for monitoring factors such as speed and orientation; and output devices such as servo motors for controlling the aircraft's direction.

The MFCS takes input from flight controls like joysticks, knobs and toggle switches in order to generate signals that are received by onboard microcontrollers. These microcontrollers then process these signals in order to monitor changing factors such as speed or orientation before sending out signals which are interpreted by servo motors attached to various parts of the aircraft in order to manipulate its movement.

In addition to providing motion control, the MFCS also monitors factors such as altitude, pitch angle, roll angle, heading and airspeed in order to ensure stability. It can also guide navigation when flying or approaching an airport or airfield.

The accuracy of the MFCS largely depends on its calibration levels but it can achieve precision down to millimetres when set up correctly. Additionally, modern systems use triple redundancy which allows them to detecting even small anomalies and reduces both software glitches and unwanted manoeuvres during flights.
