What does ACIS mean in INTERNATIONAL

The American Council of International Studies (ACIS) is a nonprofit organization that provides educational services in and around international studies. It promotes student-centered study abroad experiences through the coordination of programming, faculty-led tours, independent travel, internships, and language learning opportunities. It also offers professional development workshops for educators and counselors to become more knowledgeable about international education.

ACIS provides students with the opportunity to develop global perspectives by taking part in educational programs and activities outside their home countries. Through ACIS' extensive network of educational partners worldwide, students have access to unique study abroad opportunities that will broaden their horizons and expand their knowledge on current issues. Furthermore, ACIS works with highly qualified professionals to ensure student safety and successful outcomes from these programs.

Anyone interested in international studies can join ACIS - from high schoolers seeking an immersive experience overseas to college students exploring career paths or adults looking for an extended stay in a foreign country. All members must complete an application form that includes personal information as well as academic records for review before acceptance into the organization.

At ACIS we strive to provide valuable resources and experiences that challenge our members intellectually, culturally, and physically. Our team works closely with organizations all over the world to host interactive workshops, virtual learning sessions, interactive discussions, field trips, cultural excursions, volunteer expeditions, summer camps, language courses and research programs which offer members an opportunity to learn more about different cultures and customs while encouraging personal growth.

Whenever possible we strive to provide members with group leaders who act as mentors during their travels. Our dedicated staff assists our program participants by coordinating all aspects of their trip including airfare booking assistance; transportation reservations; accommodation arrangements; pre-trip orientation meetings; destination information briefings; cultural exchange meetings; emergency response protocol training; field trips itineraries; optional activity organization; onsite group mobility guidance; post-trip support services such as alumni clubs etc.

Before traveling it is important for participants to do research on the area they will be visiting so they can learn more about its culture and customs prior to their arrival. Additionally it is also important for participants to ensure proper documentation requirements are met such as having a valid passport with at least six months remaining before expiration or any other travel documents necessary depending on your destination country.

We provide limited trip cancellation insurance but travelers must secure additional medical coverage before departure through an independent provider such as World Nomads or Allianz Global Assistance if available in your area. Once a policy has been purchased it is essential that you keep your insurance details up-to-date throughout your travels.

Membership into ACIS requires a one time enrollment fee which covers administrative costs associated with processing applications and providing resources for members. There are no other fees associated with membership however certain activities may require additional costs which will be clearly listed during registration process.
