What does AIC mean in MISCELLANEOUS

AIC stands for Akaike Information Criterion, a statistical measure which is used to assess the quality of a particular model compared to other models.

AIC usually takes into account three aspects when calculating a model's fitness including goodness-of-fit, parsimony (simplicity), and accuracy.

By comparing different models using their respective AIC scores, this allows us to determine which model works better than others by providing information about how well each model would fit the data if one were to use that model for prediction purposes.

As with all statistical measures, there are certain limitations associated with AIC. However, it can still be useful in selecting appropriate models that would yield reliable results when tested on real-world datasets.

Any type of regression or classification model can be evaluated using the AKaike Information Criterion metric as long as all pertinent information such as sample size and parameter estimation techniques are taken into consideration.
