What does WVI mean in GENERAL

WVI is a process of assessing and investigating any potential workplace violence incidents in order to assess potential risk and take any necessary corrective action.

WVI helps employers prevent workplace violence by identifying warning signs, alleviating stress, and developing policies that address workplace violence. It also provides essential evidence for legal investigations or criminal proceedings following an incident.

Generally, trained professionals such as private investigators, attorneys, or internal workplace staff can conduct workplace violence investigations.

During a WVI, evidence generally includes witness statements, emails/text messages, surveillance footage, photographs, audio recordings, medical records documenting injuries related to the incident in question.

Once the investigation has been completed the findings will be presented to management who will decide on any further steps which may include disciplinary action or changes in policy or procedures to better protect employees from future incidents of work place violence.
